Today we have another Austrian wine to love, the Rosanna rosé from Netzl. I’m a little mad at myself, because they gave their packaging a makeover and I think the new look for their bottles is lovely, I just didn’t get the greatest photo of it:
Here’s what I thought:
Bottle: 4.5/5 – Nice clean label design. It’s the kind of simple where you know a lot of thought went into how to make it look just right.
Color: 4/5 – With Zweigelt and Blaufrankisch in the blend, I’d hope for a little deeper color here, but in today’s rosé market, paler is always better.
Chugability: 4.5/5 –Lately all of the Austrian rosés I’ve been tasting are reminding me of sour candy from my childhood. They have this punchy, sweet-tart character that I find so fun and refreshing. This one reminds me of watermelon Warheads. Anyone remember those? I loved them so much!
Price to Quality Ratio: 4/5 – This retails for $14-15, a great value for this refreshing, fun-to-drink rosé.
Overall Score: 17/20.
Goes With: Watching a foreign romantic comedy – it’s got subtitles, so you still feel smart, but it’s still fun.
I tasted this with a vendor, but this is imported by KW Selections, one of my favorite Austrian importers.
